To the many customers concerned about being able to care for their wedding flowers and keep them cool in the hot summer months – this blog post is for you!
Though we sell wholesale flowers and wedding flowers in bulk, we understand very well that not everyone will have access to a floral cooler – and this should be in NO WAY a deterrent to having beautiful, fresh flowers (and a lot of them) for you wedding or special event!
When working with fresh cut flowers it is important to remember that when storing flowers, the cooler the temperature, the slower the flowers will open and the longer they will last.
As a reference, floral coolers are typically set around 40 degrees. At that temperature, the respiration rate of the flower slows down and florists are able to store flowers for many days, even weeks! Since the majority of us don’t have proper cooler facilities in our home, we recommend customers store their wholesale wedding flowers at temperatures below 65 degrees – and even cooler if possible – though you do not want to expose fresh cut flowers to freezing temperatures. Often a garage, basement or air-conditioned room serve as great places to store fresh cut flowers.
When planning how to keep the flowers cool, especially in the warmer months, it’s important to remember that we do ask customers or their representatives be present at the time of delivery. This will guarantee that the flowers are not left unattended or sent back for next day delivery. With the perishable nature of fresh cut flowers, having them left unattended (especially in the heat) can cause a lot of problems.
Once your wholesale flowers or wedding flowers have been delivered, follow our simple flower care instructions (www.growersbox.com/flower-care) or give us a call and we would be happy to walk you through how to properly care for your wholesale wedding flowers. Store the flowers in a cool, well-ventilated spot, out of direct sunlight and away from the heat.
Sound simple? It is! Don’t worry about needing to have proper cooler facilities to store your flowers in. With proper flower care and a cool room, your bulk flowers should last beautifully for your wedding or event and beyond!
