Flower Care: Hydrangea

Hydrangea flowers rank among our best-selling varieties of wholesale flowers and wedding flowers! We see customers order Hydrangea for use as wedding flowers, event decorations and, in some cases, just to have around the house! Many consider Hydrangea to be a somewhat delicate flower - primarliy because they are shipped as full blooms. In reality, Hydrangea ship VERY well, and under proper care can easily last beautifully for 7 to 10 days.

Below are some special care instructions to follow when caring for fresh cut Hydrangea flowers:

Hydrangea are very water-sensitive flowers. When you receive Hydrangea, you will find a little water packet is attached to the bottom of each stem.

Carefully remove the little water packet and cut about 1/2 inch up from the bottom of the stem UNDER WATER (either submerged or under running water). Promplty place the flower in clean water.

It is essential that these flowers be kept in water. if you remove the Hydrangea from water, it will show fatigue quickly. If you are incorporating the flowers into a bouquet, consider using a moist towel on the bottom of the stem covered by plastic wrap (much like what is on the flower when it arrives). This make-shift water packet will help to keep the Hydrangea flowers hydrated and can easily be coverd up by ribbon.

Re-cut the stems and change the water every 2 to 3 days or as needed.
