The Oriental Lily bouquet we ordered from Growers Box came in right on time. The bouquet came packed neatly and nicely in a simple to open yet secure box just the right size to hold them firmly together. They came looking freshly cut with the buds still closed just as had been described in the timely email we received at the time of our order.  Within a few hours and throughout the next few days the buds opened beautifully, filling our home with the rich smell that lilies are known for.

It seems that every day a new bud continues to open up and fills out the bouquet with the vibrant contrast of white petals and green stems.  It has been almost two weeks and we have yet to find a flower on this bouquet that has wilted or shown signs of wilting. We are tremendously impressed with the quality of these flowers and the product and service that Growers Box offers.  We are excited to order several of the other bouquets knowing that they will brighten our home in a way only vibrant flowers can.

Dendrobium Orchids rank among some of the most popular flowers we offer.  We offer both bulk Dendrobium Orchids as well as Dendrobium Orchid bouquets (sold as 3-stem, 4-stem and 5-stem bouquets).  The purpose of this post is to outline a few differences between these two products:

Dendrobium Orchids (sold in bulk):

Our bulk Dendrobium Orchids are sold in boxes ranging from 60 stems to 300 stems.  These stunning flowers are shipped from our flower farms in Thailand and usually measure about 16 inches in overall length.  By way of description, if you stood a ruler that was 16 inches tall on the ground, the first 4 inches would be the stem and water tube, the next 5 to 6 inches would be open flowers (usually about 4 to 5 mature blooms), and the last 5 to 6 inches would be buds beginning with the most mature to the least mature.  The bulk Dendrobium Orchids are one of the few flowers which are shipped with a water tube on the bottom of each stem.  Dendrobium Orchids are VERY long-lasting flowers and can easily last 2 weeks with proper care.

Dendrobium Orchid Bouquets:

Our Dendrobium Orchid Bouquets are available as 3-stem, 4-stem and 5-stem bouquets. These Dendrobium Orchid bouquets are assembled by special order only at our flower farms in Thailand with a smaller-grade Dendrobium Orchid than the ones which we sell in bulk.  The average stem length only measures about 12 to 14 inches, and as a result, there are fewer and smaller blooms on each stem.  The Dendrobium Orchid bouquets include 2 stems of Sword Fern with each bouquet.  The Dendrobium Orchid bouquets are not shipped with water tubes on the bottom of the stems; however, they are shipped with a little water packet to help keep the flowers hydrated in shipping.

As mentioned above, the Dendrobium Orchid bouquets are assembled at our flower farms in Thailand by special order only and are screened for quality purposes while in transit.  If for some reason the Dendrobium Orchid bouquets are damaged en route, our farm will replace the Dendrobium Orchid bouquets with individual stems of Dendrobium Orchids - not in bouquet form and without Sword Fern.

Conclusion:

Both the bulk Dendrobium Orchids and Dendrobium Orchid bouquets are extremely popular.  When asked for our opinion… we always try to steer our customers towards the bulk Dendrobium Orchids.  These larger-grade Dendrobium Orchids have longer stems, bigger blooms, and often more blooms than the flowers in the Dendrobium Orchid bouquets.  Also, Dendrobium Orchids are very elegant flowers and look great in arrangements by themselves - without fillers or greens.

Valentine’s Day is upon us and many wholesalers and retailers have seen an increase in purchases for Valentine’s Day 2012.

The National Retail Federation (NRF) recently posted a report suggesting the average shopper will spend a record $126.03 for their loved one’s this Valentine’s Day.  This marks an increase of 8.5% over last year and is the highest recorded sum in the the ten year history of the NRF.  American Express generated a similar report indicating consumers will spend close to $200.00 this year for Valentine’s Day, an increase of about 8% over last year.

These reports suggest that the most popular items consumers will purchase for Valentine’s Day include flowers, gift cards, jewelry and electronics with nearly half indicating they will go out to dinner.

With that in mind… remember to order flowers from The Grower’s Box and make reservations early to your favorite restaurant for the 14th of February!
