Yelped!

My husband and I ordered the flowers for our August 2009 wedding reception through The Grower’s Box and couldn’t have been happier with how they turned out.  All my fears about ordering flowers online have been blown out of the water.  What a deal, and I will be proud for the rest of my life about how beautiful they were.

We ordered 200 bi-color yellow-red roses, 100 snapdragons, and the myrtle as filler, to be arranged in pitchers for the reception tables.  They were delivered on a Tuesday morning, as promised, for our Friday evening wedding, which seemed early, but we trimmed the stems, kept them in air-conditioning and buckets of water as directed, and they continued to blossom right up to and through the reception, and even into the next day.

We did remove some browned or spotted outside petals from the roses on Friday morning as we were arranging them, but this is typical from the shipping and they really did just look fine afterward.  Some of the snapdragons wilted, but because you have to order a minimum of 100 stems and we only need about 70, this was fine; we had a built-in buffer.

If you’re thinking about doing your own, I can only counsel: keep it simple when it comes to which flowers, and practice with a variety of vases and types of flowers from a deli or something before you decide on what you want, but it’s absolutely worth it.  We received many compliments on how nice ours looked, and with absolutely NO prior experience in flower arranging!

The Grower’s Box customer service was exceedingly responsive and careful; I called three times and actually spoke with the same man each time.  He was friendly and courteous and offered good advice.  Throughout what could have been a very scary process, I never felt like we were on our own.

Can’t recommend this company more.  They were great.

Wedding Flower Tips and Trends for 2008

The Grower’s Box recently published an article titled ‘Wedding Flower Tips and Trends for 2008: Budget Conscious Brides, Do-It-Yourself Wedding Flowers, and The Grower’s Box’. The article highlights trends in the wedding flower industry and provides useful tips for budget conscious brides and those endeavoring to take the do-it-yourself approach to wedding flowers. Excerpts from the article are below:

With Valentine’s Day now passed, many brides-to-be have begun looking forward to wedding season 2008. The date has been set, the reception location confirmed, and the bridesmaids’ dresses picked out. With those tasks aside, the focus now turns to the selection of the wedding flowers! However, with the ever-rising costs associated with weddings, the expense of hiring a floral designer can often be overwhelming. To cut costs, the trend among budget conscious brides is to order wholesale flowers in bulk from online sources like The Grower’s Box (www.growersbox.com) and create their own arrangements of wedding flowers.

The budget conscious bride (Bride-on-a-Budget) and the idea of arranging your own wedding flowers (DIY Wedding Flowers) is becoming more and more popular throughout the wedding industry. On average, brides spend 8% of their total wedding budget on their wedding flowers. This can mean spending up to $1,000 to $4,000 for flowers alone! Many brides are going the way of do-it-yourself wedding flowers because of the significant cost savings and because they it provides them with the freedom to create wedding flower arrangements that truly reflect their own personality and style.

The evening’s activities included beautiful wholesale long stem red roses from The Grower’s Box.

The wholesale rose represents the deep love for our country, but more importantly we believe this was an act in representation and understanding within the hearts of The Grower’s Box… a statement saying “Thank You” to all of our American Heroes.

We give roses for Love, for Life, and in Remembrance. These beautiful red roses were given to each guest. First to the Ladies ,and then to the Gentlemen and family members. Each rose representing Love of a Mother and Wife, Life for a Father and Mother, Loss for Comrade in Arms, Remembrance of the Crimson Tide paid by those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to preserve and protect the freedoms enjoyed by all who love, work, play, protect, and call home:

“If you’re looking to save money on flowers you might want to check out Grower’s Box. Loads of different floral varieties are available in bulk, all waiting to be shipped to your doorstep, all you have to do is arrange them. Granted, not all of us have the time or inclination to create our own flower arrangements. Even if you are hiring a florist, consider supplementing with a box of 10,000 rose petals.”

BULK FLOWERS: Garden Wise with Arlena

In March The Grower’s Box worked with Arlena (host of ‘Garden Wise with Arlena’) and provided her with a number of different flowers including Tulips and a variety of flowering branches. The show was an overwhelming success and she in turn received over 200 emails regarding that one segment! We want to say ‘thanks’ to Arlena for her support and for the beautiful arrangements she created and the brilliant ideas that she shared - all while using our wholesale flowers!!!
