Record Sales Expected for Valentine’s Day 2012
Valentine’s Day is upon us and many wholesalers and retailers have seen an increase in purchases for Valentine’s Day 2012.
The National Retail Federation (NRF) recently posted a report suggesting the average shopper will spend a record $126.03 for their loved one’s this Valentine’s Day. This marks an increase of 8.5% over last year and is the highest recorded sum in the the ten year history of the NRF. American Express generated a similar report indicating consumers will spend close to $200.00 this year for Valentine’s Day, an increase of about 8% over last year.
These reports suggest that the most popular items consumers will purchase for Valentine’s Day include flowers, gift cards, jewelry and electronics with nearly half indicating they will go out to dinner.
